Alice’s House Children’s Home & Ministry provides a secure, stable, and nurturing environment for resident children while resourcing foster families to care for the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of children in our community who are experiencing social and emotional difficulties.

Our History

In the early 90’s, a group of visionaries were burdened by the apparent need of a group home in West Georgia. With a desire to focus on meeting the needs of children, faithful givers worked to establish a Group Home. Alice’s House was officially established in 1993 and operated by Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministry (GBCHFM). For over a quarter of a century, Alice’s House provided space for children in need to find a safe haven under the loving care of house parents and caregivers. Scores of children benefited from this nurturing environment.

During the pandemic, GBCHFM was forced to shift its ministry model to accommodate changes in federal policy mandated by the Families First Prevention Services Act. As a result, AH adapted by providing our facility to house a large foster family, who shared a passion for caring for those most vulnerable and at-risk in the Foster Care System.

What We Do

At Alice’s House, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children. Our team is committed to providing comprehensive support and care for children in need. We work in collaboration with various organizations to ensure that every child under our care receives the attention and resources they deserve.

  • Residence Program: The Alice’s House Board of Directors has a contracted with the Rodriguez Family to live and serve in the Alice’s House facility at a subsidized cost. Throughout this mutually beneficial relationship, Alice’s House ministry now serves the highest capacity of children receiving care since its beginning! Many of these children have special physical or emotional needs, and we are proud to support the Rodriguez family as they fulfill their calling to serve in this significant way.

  • Foster Families: Through our connection with the Rodriguez’s and in order to expand Alice’s House services beyond the facilities itself, Alice’s House has committed to resourcing Foster Families in our community.

    • JoJo’s Closet: Since 2023, the lower level of the Alice’s House facility has been the home for JoJo’s Closet. Founded in 2020 by Jeremy and Jamie Bates, This ministry loves and supports those coming into foster care, as well as those giving care, by providing free clothing, toys, personal care products, baby items, and other essential items to those in need. Foster Caregivers can make an appointment to shop for these items when they receive an emergency placement or their children grow into new sizes.

    • Carroll County Foster Family Association: Carroll Count Foster Parent Association is a foster/adoptive parent support organization serving foster families in Carroll County, GA. This group provide support groups, training opportunities, a clothing closet, and connections to resources in the area. Alice’s House provides financial support for material needs and training space.

  • Children in Need: In the near future, Alice’s House will be seeking to provide greater support to families in need in the community whose children are at-risk at being placed into Foster Care. It is our desire to partner with existing groups to help prevent these situations by providing proactive care and training.
